Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Ann Wagner (MO-02) applauded the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Record of Decision which lays out a permanent solution to clean up the radioactive waste at the West Lake Landfill Superfund site in Bridgeton.

"Today's announcement is a testament to the St. Louis community which has been committed to the safety, security, and well-being of the families surrounding the West Lake Landfill, and the administration officials who are finally following through on their cleanup commitments after decades of delays and broken promises," said Rep. Wagner. "I would like to thank Acting Administrator Wheeler for providing a permanent solution to our community and for making the people of Missouri a top priority. For far too long, families have been living in fear, and today they can finally turn a new page. I would also like to thank Just Moms, Dawn Chapman and Karen Nickel, the Community Advisory Group, Rep. Lacy Clay, our local elected officials, and the people living around the landfill and the St. Louis area, whose tireless efforts helped shine a national and local spotlight on this issue making West Lake a top priority at the EPA. It is truly an honor to represent such a strong and committed community."
